Lawrence C. Bottone, age 88, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital after a long illness on Tuesday, June 24. He was the loving husband for 61 years of Anna Allocco Bottone.
Larry was born in Norwalk on August 16, 1925, the son of the late Custode and Jennie Tummillo Bottone and has lived locally all of his life. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and when he returned from the service went to work for the Hat Corp. of America, where he became a foreman. Larry then worked for many years as a renowned butcher at the former Atlantic Meat Market on Wall St. He was a life member of the Eagles Club, Aerie 588, and the Strawberry Hill Athletic Club. He played baseball in his younger years and also while in the Navy. Larry cherished his family and they will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons Michael Bottone of Norwalk, Steven Bottone and his wife Yu of Poway, CA and Lawrence Bottone of NY; a sister Mary Cararbe of Norwalk; a granddaughter Reyna and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 27 at 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, followed by burial at St. John Cemetery. Larry's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 4 - 8 pm.
