Salvatore L. Taliercio, age 76, of Norwalk, died peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Sal was born in Norwalk on July 23, 1937, the son of the late Antonio and Theresa Cenatiempo Taliercio and has lived locally all of his life. He attended local schools and after graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge he returned to Norwalk and worked for many years as a Fire Fighter for the City of Norwalk, retiring as a Lieutenant. He was also the head usher at the Word Alive Bible Church.
Sal is survived by his children Salvatore, Ann Marie, Michael, Thomas and wife Peggy, Paula and husband Greg Billingham, Joseph Gaita and wife Sally, estranged wife Ann Gaita Taliercio, brother Ralph and wife Mary, cherished grandchildren Salvatore, Michael and wife Maressa, Nichole, Matthew, Mark, Anthony, Rebecca, Tommy, Nicole, Brian, Samantha, Gregory, Corey, Morgan, Joey, Veronika, Jessica and Olivia, great grandchild Timothy Luke, and many nieces and nephews. Sal was also predeceased by his siblings Jack, John and Neil Taliercio, Francis Proto and Madeline Gallina.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 10 AM at the Word Alive Bible Church, 536 West Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
