Santo Orlando, age 84, of Norwalk, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Melito di Porto Salvo, Reggio, Italy, he was the husband of the late Mary (Castagna) Orlando. He worked for many years as a barber with his longtime friend, Patsy Tartaglia and also worked at Nash Engineering for over 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and sharing time and coffee with his friends. He loved seeing his grandchildren's smiles and was affectionately known as the cookie man by the neighborhood children.
He is survived by his son Anthony Orlando and his wife Susanne of Norwalk; two cherished grandchildren, Isabella and Stefano Orlando and his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews in Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 15 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. His family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, CT 06855.
