Walter H. Gogan

Walter H. Gogan age 75 of Norwalk, beloved husband of May Gogan died peacefully Tuesday February 5th 2013 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born on May 8th 1937 in The Bronx New York, Walter was a graduate of All Hallows High School in the Bronx, where he played football, basketball and baseball in addition to his studies. He recieved a BFA from Fordham University. He was a retired buyer for the Belden-Hausmann textile company and previously worked for Bloomingdales in New York City.
While in College he served as a lifeguard in Long Beach New York, where his patrol was hailed as the finest on the atlantic coast. After College he served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Walter moved to Norwalk Connecticut in 1964, where he became an active member of the community. He was a long time member of the Norwalk Republican Town Committee,helping former Mayor Frank Espisito on many campaigns. He served on the city council from 1978 to 1982, and on the planning and zoning commission from 1982 to 1986. Walter was also involved with the committee to build the New Courthouse.
Walter took an active role in local sports coaching baseball with the West Norwalk League for Phil's Auto as well as C.Y.O basketball for Saint Matthews Church.
He was a life long fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years May Gogan, as well as his three children Tim, Jay and Tori, and grandchildren Caitlyn, Frank and Liam.
