William John Stoerzinger, 83, of Norwalk passed away on July 2, 2013, at the Norwalk Hospital. He was born in Port Chester, NY to Harry and Stella O'Dell Stoerzinger on October 23, 1929.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary DiLonardo Stoerzinger, his daughters Patricia Abbott and her husband Harry of Redding, Linda St. George and her husband Brian of Shelton, Barbara Friend and her husband Eddie of Norwalk. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jackie School and her husband Rowland of Alexandria, VA, Robert Abbott of Redding, Jeff and Matthew Rees of Shelton, Kerri Ann Rivera and her husband Caesar of Bridgeport, Amanda and Daniel St. George of Shelton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary Ann Rees and her husband Edwin of Georgetown.
Bill served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy and was a past commander of the Disabled American Veterans'. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting and was active in several local social clubs. He was a fan of his grandchildren and the NY Yankees.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the Collins Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Please visit www.collins-funeral.com to leave condolences.
