Evelyn Estelle Anderson
Formerly of Norwalk
Evelyn Estelle Anderson, of Southbury, died peacefully with her family by her side, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Filosa Nursing Home in Danbury. She was 85 years old. She was the wife of Robert L. Anderson of Southbury.
Evelyn was born December 15, 1927 in Norwalk, CT, daughter of the late George D. and Hazel (Cunningham) L'Hommedieu. Evelyn and her husband resided in Norwalk until 1974 when they moved to Danbury. In 1994 they moved to Southbury where they have resided to the present. Evelyn graduated from Norwalk High School. She was employed as an office clerk until the birth of their first son. She then became a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Evelyn and Robert would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this November.
Besides her husband of 65 years, she is survived by a son, Gary L. Anderson, and his wife Jean, of Danbury, and daughter-in-law Beth Anderson of Southbury. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jennifer Wierda of Decatur, GA, Lindsay Graham of Fort Mill, SC, Nicole Bald of Danbury, Joshua, Benjamin and Emily Anderson of Southbury, four great grandchildren; Avery and Brody Wierda of Georgia and Madison and Emma Graham of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert S. Anderson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30th at 10 a.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St., North. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury. Friends may call the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510.
