Devoted Wife and Mother
Angela Conte Somma, loving wife of Carmelo Somma, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 25. She was 39. Angela was born in Basel, Switzerland on May 4, 1974, the daughter of Mario and Anna Iacono Conte of Norwalk and originally from Ischia, Italy. She has lived locally since 1977. Angela received an associate's degree from Gibbs College in Norwalk and worked for Stew Leonard's, the Alea North America Group and most recently was the attendance secretary at Wilton High School. She was a devoted mother and wife and loved to travel and go to the beach with her daughters and husband. She was a dedicated worker, battling through her cancer as long as she could, with overwhelming support from her friends, co-workers and family. Angela touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband and parents Angela is survived by her three beautiful daughters, Stefania and twins Alessandra and Alessia Somma, her brother Giuseppe Conte and his wife Katie DeFlorio Conte, her mother and father-in-law Cono and Giulia Chiappardi Somma, all of Norwalk. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Pasquale Somma and his wife Olga of Norwalk, Maria Somma Puddu and her husband Cesello, Rose Somma DiChio and her husband Giuseppe, Giovanna Somma and David Francese, all of Italy, Franco Somma of Norwalk and Marcella Iacona Somma of Norwalk, nieces and nephews Brandon and Giancarlo Conte, Saverio and Erika Puddu, Giulia and Maneule DiChio, Christian and Laura Somma, Julianna and Isabella Somma and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 1, 10 AM at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. Angela's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wednesday, July 31, from 4-8 PM.
