Army Veteran of W.W.II
Chester P. DeMio, age 88, of Norwalk, beloved husband of Beatrice (Diotte) DeMio, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk, the son of the late Valentino and Louise (D'Alesssio) DeMio, he was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Class of '42, he received his Associate's Degree from Norwalk Comm. Tech. College.
Chester was an Army veteran of W.W.II, serving in the 107th Cavalry Recon Squadron in Europe, and worked for Remington Rand/Univac Div. and Pitney Bowes. Chester was also an avid golfer, a Boy Scout Leader and had received the Life Scout Award.
In addition to Beatrice, his wife of 61 years, he is survived by their children Carrie Turecek and her husband William of Shelton, Linda Knott of Middlesex, NJ and James DeMio of Waterbury as well as a granddaughter Melissa Knott; a brother Angelo DeMio; two sisters Madeline Borgia and Carole Lippa and many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 7 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
