Edith Testa Obituary

Edith Lenora Testa, 78, of Danbury, died peacefully with her family by her side on August 12. She was born on January 11, 1932 and grew up in Wilton, CT, the daughter of the late Charles Tanner and Hattie (Bishop) Tanner. Edith is predeceased by her husband, Andrew A. Testa, Sr.

Early in her life, Edith worked at Segal Lock Company in Norwalk, CT where she met the love of her life, her husband, Andy. They were married on July 4, 1953 in South Norwalk and eventually settled in Danbury where they raised their family. Edith worked at Davis & Geck (American Cyanimid) before retiring after 33 years. In her retirement, she loved being with her family whether at home or at family gatherings. Known to many good friends as Edie, she enjoyed visiting and traveling with them.

Edith is remembered with love by her five children and their spouses: Andrew A. Testa, Jr. and his wife, Sheri of Danbury, Michael S. Testa, Sr. of Danbury, Gary J. Testa, Sr. and his wife, Allison of Woodbury, Lenora H. Testa of Danbury, and Patricia Trafton and her husband, Harold of Danbury; her grandchildren Matthew J. Knight and his wife, Brooke; Michael S. Testa, Jr.; Andrew A. Testa III and his wife, Jasmine; Meghan L. Testa; Ericca L. Testa and her fiancé, Kyle Johnson; Jessica L. Trafton and her boyfriend, Billy Deak; James A. Trafton, and Gary J. Testa, Jr.; her great granddaughter, Eden Hazel Knight; her former daughter-in-law, Lorri Lawlor; and her surviving sisters Margaret Tanner Simpson and Clara (Mabel) Tanner Carlson. As the 13th of 14 children, Aunt Edith will also be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday morning at 10AM in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Karen Jones Karpow of the Danbury United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery, Route 33, Wilton, CT.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Lord,
Aunt Edith is gone from this earthly dwelling, and has left behind those who mourn her absence.
Grant that we may hold her memory dear, never bitter for what we have lost nor in regret for the past.
but always in hope of the eternal kingdom where you will bring us togather again.

We ask this through Christ our Lord
R. Amen
