Eleanor M. Cassidy
Formerly of Norwalk
Eleanor Cassidy, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Franciscan Woods Nursing Home in Brookfield, WI. She was born in Norwalk, CT on February 22, 1921 to the late Wincenty and Mary (Kriegel) Lyszczyk, and was the wife of the late William J. Cassidy Sr.
Eleanor was raised in Norwalk, CT and resided at 32 Pulaski Street during her youth. A long time parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Norwalk, Eleanor and Bill were married there on June 8, 1946.
In 1966 Eleanor and Bill moved their family to Arlington Heights, IL where they resided until retirement when they moved to Woodstock , IL Her last years were spent with her daughter Kathy in Kansas and then finally nearby her son Bill in Wisconsin.
Family always came first with Eleanor. She cared for her parents until their deaths and along with her husband Bill provided a loving and caring environment for their four children. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Eleanor always cared for others and when she retired she spent many days traveling to the homebound around Woodstock, IL giving them communion. Eleanor loved to read and even in her final days enjoyed reading large print books, reading several per week.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband and her son Peter. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Coenen and her husband William of Lenexa, KS, and her sons William Cassidy and his wife Jeanette of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Thomas Cassidy of Lake in the Hills, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren Mark Coenen and his wife Ches and great granddaughter Elizabeth of Shawnee, KS, Rebekah Bonino and her husband John and great grandson Michael and great granddaughter Gianna of Lenexa, KS, Justin Cassidy of Chicago, IL, Jonathan Cassidy of Brooklyn, NY, Jason Cassidy of Madison, WI, Tammy Wommack and her husband Jason and great granddaughter Ashley and great grandson Jacob, Kristin Shipley and her husband Jason and great grandson Gavin and great granddaughter Ellie of Woodstock, IL, and Jennifer Cassidy of McHenry, IL Eleanor tenderly loved each and every one of these family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, Sept. 28 at St. Mary's Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk, CT followed by burial at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
