Frank J. Soldano, age 82 of Norwalk, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was the loving husband for 28 years of Joan O'Donnell Soldano and the late Carmela Barsalona Soldano. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 25, 1931, the son of the late Ralph and Adele Lovaglio Soldano, and has lived locally since 1964. He attended Brooklyn Schools and was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic. Frank served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Marines and was retired from the City of Stamford where he had been City Engineer. He enjoyed photography, shooting pool and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children Adele Calbick and her husband Joe of Weston, Theresa Weber and her husband Karl of Shelton, and Ralph Soldano and his life partner Gary Treppeda of West Haven. Also surviving are a sister, Marie Lampel and her husband Frank of Port Jefferson, NY, step-daughter Margaret McIntire and her husband Michael of Ridgefield, grandchildren Derik and Justin Weber, Matthew Tierney, Madison Soldano, Meghan McIntire, Daniel Calbick, Lauren and Ryan McIntire, great granddaughter Rebecca Weber and many nieces and nephews. Frank was also predeceased by a step-daughter Marie Tierney.
Frank's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Friends are also welcome to join the family for Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Rosary services at the funeral home from 3-4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 10 AM at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk. Entombment with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's name may be made to St. Jerome Church.
