George G. Srebotnik
Formerly of Stamford
George G. Srebotnik, 68, of Danbury, CT died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Monday following a brief illness. He was the husband of Midge (Tucci) Srebotnik. He was born in Stamford, CT on September 17, 1943, a son of the late Harry and Margaret Costello Srebotnik.
He was a 1961 graduate of Darien High School and attended Notre Dame University. George then served in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He joined the Connecticut State Police in 1966, stationed with Troops G and L, until 1973. George was most recently an inspector with the Office of the State's Attorney at Danbury Superior Court until his retirement in 1992. A devoted father and grandfather, George enjoyed Jersey shore vacations with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed UCONN basketball. George was also fond of playing strategy games with his friends.
Besides his wife of 45 years, survivors include one daughter Kimberly Carrino and her husband Joseph of Sandy Hook; two sons Gregory Srebotnik and his wife Laura of Newtown and Peter Srebotnik and his wife Sandra of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren Joey, Lauren and Jillian Carrino, Audrey and Vivian Srebotnik and one sister Rose Rondano and her husband Charlie of Trumbull. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Peter Tucci, Jr. and his wife Theresa and Bruce Tucci and his wife Dee, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30am at St. Peter Church. A private burial will take place at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
