John Ingersoll Obituary

John M. Ingersoll, 61, of Norwalk, died peacefully Tuesday, December 8th at Norwalk Hospital.

Born January 29, 1948 in New London, CT, he was the son of the late John E. Ingersoll of Norwalk and Ann (Simonelli) Ingersoll of Ocala, FL.

He is survived by his two children, Eric Ingersoll and his wife Jenine of Seymour, CT and Jennifer Benitez and her husband Kevin of Norwalk, and by three grandchildren, Dillon, John and Isabelle Ingersoll.

In addition, John is survived by his three sisters, Eileen, Barbara and Kathy of Ocala, FL; his brother Richard of Ridgefield, CT and by many nieces and nephews.

John served 3 years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He later worked in the composing room of the Hour until his retirement.

John especially loved his dogs, time spent with his grandchildren, and the special care and love of Jennifer, Ruthie, and Estella. He will be sadly missed, but always loved by all of us. At John's request, there will be no calling hours and a private memorial service. He would appreciate donations to the Humane Society instead. Arrangements are in the care of Collins Funeral Home.

John, I hope you know you are missed and always loved. It's rare a dear friend can leave such a huge footprint on one's heart but you did. May you fly with the angels and continue to watch over your loved ones.

John was always more of everything than he ever let on: smarter, kinder, funnier, more emotional and complex. A part of me didn't expect his life to be cut so short, but the sting is softened somewhat by knowing he was mostly content and satisfied with how his life had unfolded.

The world just became a less interesting place. I will always miss you John, my friend and love, and will forever wonder, What If...
