John Maxwell Dixon
“Uncle Maxi”
John Maxwell Dixon (Uncle Maxi), born June 17, 1945, the youngest of 5 children, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2013 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He will be sorely missed. He is the son of Edith Maude Dixon of Jamaica and James Uriah Dixon of Barbados.
In 1968, he migrated to the United States and resided in CT before relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He worked at Electric Control Equipment Company in Norwalk, CT for 34 years as a tester/electrician. He loved fishing, playing cricket, and was an avid domino player and bowler. He had an AMAZING sense of humor, was easy going and extremely charismatic. He loved his family and always put them first.
He is survived by his wife Leona Dixon; his sons David Dixon of Patterson, New Jersey and Nigel Dixon of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; step daughter Monica Harris of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; step daughter Beverly Stewart of Bridgeport, CT; step son Juna Stewart of Bridgeport, CT; brother Sidney (Jack) Dixon (sister-in-law Paulette Dixon) of Bridgeport, CT; sister Geraldine (Birdie) Fox; (brother-in law Roy Fox) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He is predeceased by his daughter Angela Dixon; step son Everton Gallimore; brother Harry Dixon, sister, Joyce Eloise Hunt and brother-in-law Norman Ellsworth Hunt.
Maxi Dixon is also survived by 8 grandchildren Ahmad, Jahmiere, Justyn, Najalah, Rianna, Micaiah, Heaven, Zakai, and great grandson, Kramrin. He had an extremely large family, including 23 nieces and nephews, 54 great nieces and nephews, and 29 great grand nieces and nephews. Maxi is also survived by his dearest friend Marcia Harper (Aunt Jo), P. Brown, Suzanne Saunders, and numerous other close friends.
We will honor the memory of John Maxwell Dixon, the father, brother, uncle and friend on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Bridgeport Apostolic Church, located at 499 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow.
