Joseph J. DiSalvo
Long Time Stamford Resident
Joseph J. DiSalvo, 85, a long time Stamford resident, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on September 6, 2012. Joseph was born May 24, 1927 in New York City to the late Angela (Trerattero) and Alfonso Diovisalvo.
Mr. DiSalvo joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served during W.W.II. He married Marilynn Wicks on July 19, 1975. They recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. She remained by his side, and was at his side at the time of his passing. He worked in Sales for General Electric Credit Corporation and was a dedicated and loyal employee for over 40 years. After a productive career, he retired to enjoy his time with his wife and family.
Joe was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He was a hard working and dedicated family man, and was passionate about his sports teams and being outdoors. He was an avid follower of the New York Yankees and the New York football Giants. He was a member of the Halloween Yacht Club and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, skiing and playing golf. He also loved to spend time working in his vegetable garden and growing tomatoes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilynn, a son, Joseph M. DiSalvo, and wife Jo Ann, of Hopewell Jct., NY, and five daughters; Gerianne Gabrielle, of Carmel, NY, Donna DiScala, and husband Michael, of Norwalk, CT, Jennifer Cornell and husband Todd, of Richmond, VA, Cynthia G. Hart and husband Derrick, of Stamford, and Alice Jent and husband Chris, of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren; Maria and Joseph Jr. DiSalvo, Portia Antonio, John, Natalie, Jaclyn and Michael Jr. DiScala, Drew, Brad and Grace Cornell, DJ and Shannon Hart, and Jimmy, Corrin and Robin Jent. In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his two brothers, Theodore and John DiSalvo, and two sisters, Maria DiSalvo and Jeanne Riley.
The DiSalvo family welcomes all friends and relatives to call on Sunday, September 9th from 4 to 6pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, September 10th at 1pm at First United Methodist Church, 42 Cross Road, Stamford, CT. Interment will immediately follow at Queen of Peace R.C. Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, in Stamford.
