Lila “Lee” ( Dickson) McCarthy, 78, of East Dennis MA, formally of Norwalk CT, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 with her family at her side. She was the wife of Robert “Bob” McCarthy to whom she was married for 56 years.
Born in Mount Vernon NY on June 12, 1935 she was the only child of the late John and Mildred Dickson. Lee was raised in Westport CT, graduated from Staples High School, and later the Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. She married Robert McCarthy on June 8, 1957 in Norwalk where they lived and raised 5 children. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Norwalk Hospital for 37 years with much of the time in the operating room and employee health unit. She will be remembered for her years of service to the hospital and her love for animals, specifically horses and dogs.
Lila is survived by her husband Robert who resides at Epoch Senior Living in Brewster, 5 children, Cheryl McCarthy of Elizabethtown PA, Doreen (Walt) Eisenhauer of Jersey Shore PA, Robert (Rebecca) McCarthy of Gorham ME , Pamela (Marc) Robinson of Waterboro ME, Daniel (Josephine) McCarthy of Norwalk CT. Lee was blessed with 7 grandchildren; Robert McCarthy, Michael, Corey, and Erin Robinson, Patrick, Ian, and Leigh Ann Eisenhauer, and Breanna McCarthy. She also leaves behind her beloved Irish Wolfhound Murphy.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, July 9th, from 10 to 11am, followed by a funeral service in t the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave. South Yarmouth. Interment will be at The Quivet Neck Cemetery, South Street , Dennis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Epoch Senior Living of Brewster Activity Fund (Clark Unit) 873 Harwich Rd. Brewster MA 02631. The family wishes to thank the TLC Homehealth and the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod for their dedication and services provided to Lee.
