Mary Kathleen Lau

Mary Kathleen Lau, 87, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in Traverse City, Michigan with her loving family at her side.
Mary K was born on August 13, 1925 in Somerville, Massachusetts to the late Joseph Gerard and Kathleen (Ely) Schumb.
After graduating from Hood College, she married the late Richard Lau on August 14, 1948 in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Mary K moved to Norwalk in 1952 and after her children were grown she spent many years working alongside of her husband at the Norwalk United Way.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Norwalk Woman's Club and volunteered at Treasure House raising funds for the Norwalk Hospital.
During the summer months she spent her days at the Shore and Country Club where she was a member for forty-nine years. She also enjoyed the theater at the Westport County Playhouse.
Most importantly Mary K loved her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Mary are her children, Lucinda “Cindy” (Raymond) Klepper of Traverse City, Michigan, David Lau of Arlington, Virginia; grandchildren, Todd, Lyndsay and Amanda Klepper and great grandchildren, Abigail, Quinn, Mason and Eleanor.
A celebration of Mary K's life with take place this spring in Norwalk.
