Michael A. Spagnesi

Michael A. Spagnesi, 56, of South Windsor, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at Brigham & Women's Hospital surrounded by his beloved immediate family: his wife Debra (Snelgrove) Spagnesi, son Daniel Spagnesi and daughter- in-law Julie (O'Roark) Spagnesi.
Born in the Bronx NY, son of Diana Spagnesi of South Norwalk and the late Albert Spagnesi, Mike grew up in Norwalk, and resided in South Windsor for the past 30 years. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCONN in 1978 and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa & Pi Mu Epsilon Societies. "Spags" started his career at Northeast Utilities, moved into the banking industry, holding a variety of positions, culminating in Corporate Strategy for Bank of America, and was most recently Director of Information Management Consulting, for 3C Associates, Inc.
He actively served in his home church of St. Peter's (Episcopal) by teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving on the vestry, working as finance commission head, and running the annual Spaghetti Supper. A true people person, his friendliness and outgoing demeanor, complemented by his extraordinary wit and humor, lit up a room and left all in stitches.
He freely shared his faith, his love of sports (Go Mets & Jets!), and food & music with many people in all the circumstances of his life.
He leaves a host of friends , including close friends Eric, Charlie, Bill & Rick. He is also survived by sisters Lynn Spagnesi and S. Lord; cousins Phillip & AJ Spagnesi; Debra's family; her mother, Jerry Snelgrove, sisters, Janet and her husband Tom Thompson, Carol and her husband Steve McOmber; niece Julie Thompson; and nephews Brian Thompson, Scott McOmber and Jimmy McOmber.
His family will receive friends Friday, August 24, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 239 Graham Road, South Windsor. A reception will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 109 Sand Hill Road, South Windsor, CT, 06074, or to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, HH-Fund Development, 80 Seymour Street, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford CT, 06102-5037.
