Michael Dominick Veno

Michael Dominick Veno, age 87 of Norwalk, died peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Born in Saugatuck , CT, the son of the late Dominic and Mary E. (Reitano) Veno, he was the beloved husband of Louise (Grimaldi) Veno. They would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 14th.
A Naval veteran of W.W.II, he had served in the Asiatic Fleet in the South Pacific aboard the USS Piedmont. He was present at the Japanese surrender and participated in the occupation of Japan. He worked for 40 years at Philips Electric Motors. He found great enjoyment working in his yard and garden. A talented repairman and woodworker, Michael was able to fix anything and was a selfless and caring man who made friends easily and loved being active. His sincere friendship and sense of humor will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife Louise, he is survived by their children; Betsy LeCates and her husband Gary, Carol Falcone and her husband Richard, Michael Veno Jr. and his wife Jennifer, 3 grandchildren, Nicole (LeCates) Cunha and her husband Carlos, Richard and Christopher Falcone, 2 great-grandchildren Ariana and Kyle Cunha as well as his Aunt Betty Licari and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 5, at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Old King's Hwy., Westport. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7:30 PM at the Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Memorial donations may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center c/o Norwalk Hospital Foundation.
