Nicolina Vona
Norwalk Resident
Nicolina Vona, 86, wife of the late Sebastiano Vona of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at her son's home. Born November 8, 1925 in Italy, she was daughter of the late Dominico and Angela Paniccia Palmieri.
Mrs. Vona ran a farm and household in Italy with her husband Sebastiano before immigrating to America in 1968. She then took a job in a leather factory where she worked for over 20 years. She will be remembered as a leader of her family who gave good advice, kept the family close, and was very devoted to her faith.
Mrs. Vona is survived by her two sons, Gino Vona Sr. and his wife Maria of Fairfield, CT, and Nick Vona and his wife Antonietta of Wilton, CT. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call TODAY, Tuesday from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 AM in St. Mary Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, South Main Street, New Canaan.
