Lifelong Norwalk Resident
Russell C. Santo, 61, beloved husband of Paula Daher Santo, died Sunday, June 23, 2013. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, he was the only child of the late Charles and Florence Santo, and had the distinction of being Norwalk's “First Baby of the Year” in 1952. Russell graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1970. He was employed at Deluxe Check Printers for 25 years and also worker for A.O. Sherman for sixteen years. He was known over his lifetime by multiple nicknames including Rusty, Shakey and Gus. Rusty was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
In addition to Paula, his loving and cherished wife of 40 years, he is survived by his son Jeffrey R. Santo, and his daughter Kristin Waterbury and her husband Alan, all of Norwalk; grandchildren, Hailey and Ava Waterbury; nieces Bethany Vayda and Alix and Danica Daher; nephews David Vayda and his wife Kim, and Kevin and Richie Daher and great nephew Jeremy Taylor. Other survivors include a very special mother in law Jean Daher of Norwalk; sister in law Kathy Vayda and her husband Dave of Stratford and brothers in law, Richard Daher of East Stroudsburg, PA and Thomas Daher of Norwalk. He will also be sadly missed by his Pug puppies Chloe and Sandy.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 am in St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Place, in Norwalk. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rusty's memory to Friends of Animals, 777 Post Road, Suite 205, Darien, CT, 06820 or St. Philip Church. Arrangements are in the care of County Cremation Service, 36 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield.
