Ruth W. (Robinson, Bates, May) Dunphy, age 79 died peacefully at Fairfield Health of Greenwich on Sunday, November 4, 2012. She was born on June 18, 1933 to the late Willis and Vivian Robinson.
Ruth was raised in Norwalk, CT attending the Norwalk public schools and graduated with the class of 1952. She moved to Rockville, MD where she raised her family. Ruth returned to Norwalk with her husband Richard where she lived out the rest of her life.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Richard P. Dunphy, two brothers, Howard and Lawrence Robinson and a sister Eileen Felter. She is survived by three sons, David May of Norwalk, Kenneth May (Wanda) of Trenton, S.C. and Larry May (Jenny) of Deerwood, MD Two step daughters, Carol Longdaue (Peter) of Argyle, NY and Bonnie Davis (Lain) of Nashua, NH ; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren the loves of her life. She was also survived by her brother Robert Robinson (Susan) of Greene, NY ; two sisters in law, Joan and Winnie Robinson and a brother in law Alfred Felter.
Ruth was a member of The United Church of Rowayton and a past member of the East Avenue Methodist Church. Ruth's love for the Lord was a passion she embraced. She served on the board of the Kingdom Refuge Ministry and her hobbies included swimming, fishing and boating.
Her burial will be private. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Ave. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street has been entrusted with arrangements.
