Father & Grandfather
Salvatore Rizzuti, 90, of Norwalk, husband of Vincenza Contacessa Rizzuti, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in his home.
Born April 14, 1922 in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of Pasquale Rizzuti and Carmela Rizzuti. He lived most of his youth in Bari, Italy where he married and had four of his children.
Mr. Rizzuti worked as a Stone Mason and as a Self Employed Contractor. He did most of his beautiful artwork in the Norwalk, Westport area. He loved working outside and also enjoyed keeping his property meticulous. He also loved growing his own vegetable and herbs garden which he did for most of his life. He was a talented husband, father, and grandfather and a proud man, full of energy, who loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, Vincenza , he is survived by two sons; Americo Rizzuti of Norwalk and Anthony Rizzuti of South Carolina; five daughters; Carmela Vitelli and husband Dennis of Floral Parks, N.Y., Ann Marie Rosenberg and husband Bruce Elander of Newtown, Nella Renzulli and husband Ralph of Monroe, Denise DiNardo and husband Robert Jr. of Norwalk and Diana Rizzuti of Norwalk; and by grandchildren, David, Jason Vitelli and wife Mellissa, Dena, Joseph and Amanda Rosenberg, Kristen and Robert III DiNardo, Anthony Rizzuti. He had many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Teresa DeMilt.
Friends may call on Tuesday January 1, 2013 from 3 to 7 PM in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 10 AM in Saint Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
