Sherman Avery Sherm Kelsey, 71, of Enfield, beloved husband for 17 years to Linda (Connell) Kelsey, entered into eternal peace Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at his home following a three year battle with cancer. A son of the late R. Wilfred and Sherma (Avery) Kelsey, Sherm was born in Bronxville, NY and had lived in the Fairfield County area of CT for 30 years before moving to Enfield where he has been an active resident of the community for over 5 years and a member of the Enfield Congregational Church. He had been a Financial Representative for over 30 years with Northwestern Mutual before retiring. Sherm enjoyed woodworking which enabled him to build a small sailboat for his grandchildren. His greatest joy was his family and he loved spending time with them boating and fishing at the family's cottage on China Lake in South China, Maine.
Besides his wife Linda, Sherm is survived by two children, John Kelsey of OR, and Allison Ramirez and her husband Ken of Milford, CT; two step-children, Jill Knox and her husband Peter of Charlotte, VT, and Julie Branc and her husband Jeff of TX; a brother, Ray Kelsey and his wife Joanne of Mendham, NJ, and a sister, Janet Kelsey of Camden, ME; and grandchildren Scott, CJ, and Tristen Ramirez; Sam and Caleb Knox, Izzy and Sophie Branc.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26th at the Enfield Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sherm's memory may be made to either the Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082 or to the Enfield Meals on Wheels, 299 Elm St., Enfield, CT 06082.
