Walter “Roger” Rozkewicz

Walter “Roger” Rozkewicz, age 97, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, July 30 at the Norwalk Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Gwizdak Rozkewicz.
Walter was born in Norwalk on December 13, 1916, the son of the late Cazimir and Aniela Czajka Rozkewicz. He worked as a truck mechanic for Vallerie Trucking for over 40 years. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked primarily on repairing damaged planes returning from battle. Walter was a member of the D.A.V., enjoyed building model planes and reading all about aviation and WWII. He was a founding member of The American Air Museum in Britain. He also enjoyed gardening and working on puzzles.
Survivors include a daughter Mary Beth Rozkewicz of Brooklyn, NY and her partner James Mitchell; a sister Stephanie Healy of Fall River, MA; three grandchildren Em Phipps, Elizabeth Phipps-Soeiro and Alexander Phipps; two great grandchildren Henry and Olive Soeiro and several nieces and nephews.
Walter was also predeceased by his son Mark E. Rozkewicz; his daughter Donna Rozkewicz Phipps; his brother Edward Roy and his sister Helen Weisner.
Graveside services for Walter will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 11 am at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. There are no visiting hours.
