James Jim Penders, 84, of Jupiter, Florida and Norwalk, Conn died peacefully on December 29, 2011 in Norwalk Hospital. He was the beloved husband to Mae (Dominick) Penders of twenty-seven years.

Jim was the son of John and Agnes (Conway) of New Haven, Conn. Jim graduated from High School in 1944 and joined the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged in 1946. He continued his education and graduated from New York University in 1950.
He was the former owner of Pen Mar Industries of Norwalk, Conn for forty years.
As an athlete, Jim enjoyed skiing and playing tennis. He was also an avid golfer and was a former member of Shore Haven Golf Club, Norwalk, Conn and a member of Jonathans Landing Golf Club, Jupiter, Florida.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his children Chris (Roxanne) Penders of Austin, Texas, Elisabeth Soegaard of Bethel, Conn, Marissa (Mike) Maroni of Seattle, Washington, Kelly (J.T.) Welden of Carbondale, Colorado and Ryan (Ethan) Sullivan of Fairfield, Conn; step children Kim Risolo (Carlton Bavor) of Norwalk, Conn, Robin Risolo of Norwalk, Conn, Donna Risolo of Danbury, Conn and Stacey (Peter) Cook of Pompano Beach, Florida; grandchildren Jose and Javier Soegaard, Ben and Maureen Penders, Hannah and Penn Maroni, Addie, Clea and Briggs Welden, Marie Casey and Michael and Carina Cook.
He is also survived by daughter in law Sandra Penders of El Salvador; brother in laws John Dominick (Kathy) of Norwalk, Conn, Jamie (Elena) Mazzara of Somers Point, New Jersey, Mark (Tracy) Mazzara of Fords, New Jersey; sister in law Denise (Joe) Fretina of Stratford, Conn; and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his son Matthew Penders of El Salvador; son in law Tony Soegaard of Bethel, Connecticut; brothers John Penders of New Haven, Conn, Edmund Penders of New Haven, Conn and Edward Penders of New Haven, Conn; and sisters Peggy Sandora of Woodbridge, Conn, Ronnie Balcerowski of Milan, Ohio and Agnes Murphy of Orange, Conn.
Jim's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Norwalk's Hoyt- Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM 8:00PM. His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk at 10:00AM. The Rev. Robert J. Crofut will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
