Dora (Florenza-Geregetano) Gerardi, wife of the late Daniel Gerardi, left this world, quietly and peacefully, Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Born in Calabria, Italy on January 1st, 1914, daughter of Alfredo & Nicolina Geregetano, she came to the USA as a young child. Dora worked as a seamstress until her marriage to Daniel Gerardi, owner of Dans Korner Store on Liberty St. Dora worked at the counter, and prepared some of the food items at home.
Dora also worked as a volunteer at Sacred Heart Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and a parishioner all her life, taking care of collection envelopes and other office chores.
She loved reading long novels, Broadway shows, and Frank Sinatra music.
Dora will be remembered for the many holiday gatherings at their house on Bridge Street, for family and friends.
She loved sewing, and would hand craft coats, dresses and other clothing for her beloved grandchildren and other members of her extended family.
Dora will live long in the memories of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, for her love of them and her daughter in law Cookie and son in law Lou, whom she treated as her own children.
Dora was also predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony, Dominick, and Albert and one sister Vera. She is survived by her sister Jean. She leaves behind her loving family; daughter: Annette Benedetto and husband Louis; son: Bart Gerardi and wife Cookie; 8 grandchildren: Laura, Lisa, Lynn, Toni, Ann, Kim, Danny, Bart Jr.; 12 great grandchildren: Christie, Shay Lynn, Skylar, Shelby, Christian, Erin, Dylan, Kyle, Jake, Conner, James and Frianna; 2 great grandchildren: Austin and Aydan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT.
