Mr. Arthur Art A. Reale, 90, husband of Eugenia Starzyck Reale and lifelong resident of Westport, CT passed away on Saturday November 10th in Norwalk Hospital.
Mr. Reale was born in Saugatuck on December 26, 1921 and was the son of the late Salvatore and Lillian (Carrara) Reale. Art was a 1940 Graduate of Staples High School and was the Captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams. He was a US Navy Veteran and served as a Radio Operator in the South Pacific during W.W.II. Art worked for Nash Engineering for many years where he started out as a machinist and worked his way in to the personnel department. After his retirement Art worked as the Animal Control Officer in Westport for twelve years. He ran the Norwalk Industrial League and was a member of the Westport Advertiser football team. He traveled the country playing fast pitch softball and played for the Raybestos Cardinals, he was inducted in to the Connecticut fast pitch softball Hall of Fame in 1971. Art was the recipient of the Westport Sportsman Award and was the Grand Marshall in the 2006 Westport Memorial Day Parade. Art was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and was very proud to be a life long resident of Westport
Survivors in addition to his wife of sixty three years include two daughters; Diane Reale of Farmington, CT. and Patricia Serafino and her husband Michael of Feeding Hills MA. one brother; Vincent Reale and his wife Elaine of Downingtown, PA. and his three beloved Grandchildren; Melody Serafino, Noelle Serafino and Brandon Serafino.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Thursday November 15th at 11:00 AM in Assumption Church 98 Riverside Ave. Westport, CT. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery 73 Greensfarms Rd. The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home 210 Post Rd. E. Westport, CT. Thursday morning from 9:00AM to 10:30 AM.
