Avid Sailor, Skilled Musician
Floyd Allen Sisterhenm, 60 years old, former resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, died Monday, November 5 in St. Thomas, USVI. Born September 1, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert Morris Sisterhenm and late Alice Floyd Sisterhenm, both of Norwalk.
Mr. Sisterhenm graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1970 and attended Emerson College in Boston, Mass. He was co-captain of the boys' soccer team high school and, in 1969, was a key player in winning the FCIAC championship versus Staples. A self-employed carpenter, he was a skilled woodworker, avid sailor, as well as a life-long music lover and skilled musician. He advocated for the rights of the poor and disenfranchised, and did several summer volunteer stints in Appalachia.
Mr. Sisterhenm is survived by his sister Martha and her husband James Harkins, his brother Robert (“Lea”) Sisterhenm and wife Christine, his ex-wife Megan Reilly Perez and their four children Cory Sisterhenm, Abigail and husband Christopher Cali, Timothy Sisterhenm and John Sisterhenm. He is also survived by two grandsons, Benjamin and Thomas Cali, two nephews, two cousins and his uncle George Sisterhenm of Redding, California.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethlehem House Shelter for the Homeless in care of Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands, P.O. Box 10736, St. Thomas, USVI 00801, or your local shelter for the homeless.
