Phillip Boone Jones, age 87, of Forest Hill, MD died peacefully in his home on the afternoon of January 22, 2013. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth R. Jones, retired from New York State Electric and Gas, an active member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over 50 years, US Navy Torpedoman, Dairyman, and in his spare time enjoyed wood-working. In addition, he was honored to have VIP status and a corner seat at his favorite pub, Sean Bolan's of Bel Air, MD.
Born in Norwalk, CT on May 14, 1925, Phillip Boone was the middle son of Price D. Jones and Roberta R. Rummler. Upon being honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a Torpedoman in 1947, Phil then married, began his career as a Dairyman and raised his family in Masonville, NY. Following his time on the farm, Phil retired from New York State Electric and Gas with 17 years as a Turbine Operator to Sharon, VT. Throughout his retirement, Phil remained active in the Free and Accepted Masons and received the Distinguished Service Award in 1996 for his continued dedication to Veteran's issues and was named Citizen of the Year in 2000 by the Grand Lodge of Vermont.
Phil is survived by sister, Alice B. Jones of Melbourne, FL, and brother Thomas R. Jones of Roseburg, OR, in addition to his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Tammy Jones, daughter, Cheryl L. Lennon, and six grandchildren Robert P. Jones, Jr., Nancy J. Jones, Bryan P. Brady, Phillip B. Lennon, T. Adam Brady, Daniel W. Lennon and two great-grandchildren to whom he will forever be remembered fondly.
