Claiborne M. Buswell, Sr.
Formerly of Norwalk
Claiborne M. Buswell, Sr., 78, of Southport in Mashpee, MA died August 30, 2013. He was the loving husband of the late Sally (Boyce) Buswell to whom he was married 47 years.
Throughout his entire life he was a fun and loving father who was very involved with all of his children's lives. Before his retirement, Clay was the owner of Clay's Tire Co., in Norwalk, home to his family for over 30 years. After retiring to Southport, MA, he played cards every Wednesday night and was active with the Southport landscape committee. He enjoyed helping people, gardening, woodworking, and was an automotive enthusiast. He was also very active with his 1953 high school class reunion committee at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Morris and her husband Tyler of Milford, CT, Claiborne Buswell, Jr. of Moosup, CT, Christopher Buswell and his wife Marylou of Norwalk, CT, and Charlene Hawkins of Trumbull, CT; his grandchildren, Michael and Julianne Oswald, Taylor Rae and R.J. Hawkins, and Kyle, Skylar, and Justin Buswell; and his sister, Virginia Link of San Antonio, TX. He is the brother of the late Jean Godwin and the late Elizabeth Danforth.
Visiting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. at Route 151, MASHPEE, MA followed by a funeral service in the funeral home beginning at noon. The family will have a private burial.
