Steven Killinger Obituary

ST. PAUL - Steven W. Killinger, 54, of St. Paul died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Martin Leeper will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the church.

Mr. Killinger was born Sept. 4, 1957, to Wayne and Sue (Barr) Killinger at St. Paul.

Survivors of the immediate family include four sons and a daughter-in-law, Roderick Burkhardt-Nagashima and spouse, Tomoya, of Los Angeles, Colt and Kendra Burkhardt, Kirby Killinger and his fiance, Kimberly, all of Grand Island and MacKenzie Killinger and his fiance, Kourtney of St. Paul; his mother; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Alan and Jeanine Killinger and Kurt Killinger, all of Wolbach, Larry Killinger of Grand Island and Kevin Killinger of St. Paul; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Jason Brummund of St. Paul and Tami and Dan Schumacher of Wolbach.

Additional survivors include two grandsons, Logan and Cordell; his ex-wife and companion, Jolene Killinger of St. Libory; and many nieces and nephews.

He grew up on the family farm where he attended Wolbach Schools and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1975. He worked at the Wolbach Locker during his high school year and then purchased it later. He owned and operated it for many years.

He was united in marriage to Jolene Harvey on April 23, 1988, at United Methodist Church in Wolbach. To this marriage there were four boys. Steven lived in St. Paul, and worked at various jobs, the most recent was Hometown Market and Hardcore 4x4 in St. Paul.

Some joys in his life were tinkering with cars and guns. He also enjoyed helping his friends and family with their needs, horses, fishing, camping, garage sales, travel, holidays and TV and movies. His most recent joys were his grandsons.

He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, a sister, Connie Killinger and his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

We are saddened by the loss of Steve, although we haven't seen him in years we have always considered him a friend and will remember fondly the time we spent together. We will especially remember him carrying our youngest son around in the bib of his overalls.
