SPALDING -- Clinton Frederick Asche, 82, of Spalding died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Rev. Don Buhrman and Rev. Jim Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church, with a wake service at 7 p.m.
Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Asche was born June 6, 1929, at Columbus to Fred Jr. and Evalena (Houser) Asche.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Asche.
Survivors of his immediate family include his wife, Jeanette; eight children and their spouses, Theresa and Eric Stahl of Sioux Falls, S.D., James and Loretta Asche of Malcolm, Charles Asche of Grand Island, Gerald and Gladys Asche of Spalding, Thomas and Sherry Asche of Spalding, Paul and Jennifer Asche of O'Neill, Mark and Beth Asche of Spalding, and Matthew and Jennifer Asche of Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law, Connie Asche of Beaman, Iowa; 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Klug of Columbus.
Clinton was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. He attended school at rural District No. 43 in Platte County, completing the eighth grade. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus with the class of 1946. Following graduation, he began farming with his father near Columbus. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on Oct. 3, 1951, and served until his honorable discharge on Dec. 5, 1953. He then returned to farming with his father.
On July 20, 1956, Clinton was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. On Sept. 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Steiner at St. Mary's Catholic Church at rural Schuyler. The couple made their home on a farm near Richland until 1968, when they moved to Spalding. Clinton continued farming, owned and operated Asche Ready-Mix, and drove a fuel truck for many years.
Clinton was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the St. Michael's Men's Club.
In addition to his son, Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Karen Luchsinger; and two brothers-in-law, Dean Klug and Paul Luchsinger.
