James Halver "Jim" Hansen, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Grand Island from complications of cancer.

In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. Condolences may be sent to his wife, Karen, in care of All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust St., Grand Island, NE 68801.

Mr. Hansen was born in Fullerton to Ruth (Bloxom) and Halver Hansen.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter, Carrie Hansen of Lincoln and granddaughter, Ivy Ruth; his sister and niece, Ruth Ann and Beth Penick of Aurora; and his nephews, Benjamin and Brian Penick of Colorado and great-nephew, Ryan James Penick.

He was active in high school sports, particularly baseball, and graduated from Fullerton High School. In 1972, he married Karen (Fiedler) Hansen of Grand Island. They had a daughter, Carrie Hansen, and lived in Central City for 20 years.

Jim was a salesman and later, a district manager, for the Gamble Robinson/Ulry Talbert Company, which then became Food Services of America. He enjoyed calling on his clients all across central and north central Nebraska and loved to tell a joke or a share a good story. After retiring, Jim and Karen owned a cafe in Hordville where they lived for a few years, before opening Hansen's Steakhouse & Lounge in Hampton.
