Betty Mae Drake, 83, of Irish Settlement Road, Freeville, NY passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at University Hospital, Syracuse after a brief illness. Born June 7, 1930 in Ithaca, she was a daughter of the late Loren and Marjorie Peters Heath. Betty was graduated from Dryden High School in 1949 and was employed at the Tompkins County Trust Company for 37 years. On June 7, 1952 she was married to Donald E. Drake who died November 24, 1984. In retirement she was employed at the Dryden McDonald's. Betty was a long time member of the Freeville United Methodist Church and enjoyed her family, hunting, fishing, southern gospel music and crafts. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Drake of Freeville; a brother, Paul (Evelyn) Heath of Lexington, NC; a sister, Jean Madigan of Freeville; grandchildren, Kyla and Madison Drake; a daughter-in-law, Jerrie Drake of Wilmington, NC; a brother-in-law, Larry Hopkins and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Heath of Dryden; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Donald E. Drake, Jr.; sisters, Ellen Heath and Shirley Hopkins; her sister and brother-in-law, June & Jack Maloney and a brother-in-law, Jack Madigan. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, March 15 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Winkelman officiating. Burial, delayed, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
