Deutsch, Estelle B.
Estelle B. Deutsch, 91, died peacefully at Sterling House on July 6, after a short illness. She was born in New York City on September 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Saul Berman and Dorothy Goldberg. She lived in New York for most of her life, before moving to Ithaca in 2007 to be close to family. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard B. Deutsch, in 2005. She is survived by her three children, Elaine Engst (Chris) of Richford, NY; Stan Deutsch (Cheryl Littauer) of Oakland, CA; and Cynthia Garrett (Billy) of Las Cruces, NM; two grandchildren, Adam Engst (Tonya) of Ithaca and Jennifer Upson (Linus) of Woodside, CA; and three great-grandchildren, Tristan Engst and Linus and Leo Upson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who devoted her life to her children. She was always there with words of understanding, encouragement, and praise, whatever the circumstances. We will miss her dry sense of humor and her indomitable spirit. We are grateful to the staff at Sterling House and at Hospicare for their love and care. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting.
