Shaw, SaluaFata "Sa" Malepe

Sa Malepe Shaw, age 82, of 201 Canaan Road, Brooktondale, NY passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at home. Sa was born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, a daughter of the late Malepe and Sialele. She met George Shaw, an American serviceman from Ithaca, NY who was stationed in American Samoa and they were later married in Hawaii. Eventually relocating to Tompkins County in 1957, they had been residents of Brooktondale except for spending a few years in Hawaii. George passed away March 3, 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, cooking, bird watching and her beloved cat, Sassy. Survivors include her son, George (Margie) Malepe of Freeville; her daughters, Sialele Malepe of DC, Ramona (Dean) Teel of Peoria, AZ, Frances (Jerry Cornell) Shaw of Brooktondale, Linda (Greg) Nash of Slaterville Springs, Mary Shaw Watson, Pat (David) Arsenault, Madoline "Pooh" Shaw, Amber (Greg) Compton all of Brooktondale; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins here and in Hawaii. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rosemary Prince; two brothers and a sister. Funeral Services will be held at 6 PM, Friday, May 24, at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. Friends are invited to call Friday from 5 to 6 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will be private. Memorials are directed to the Slaterville Ambulance, P.O. Box 190, Slaterville Springs, NY 14881
