Kelly, Dr. Eileen

Dr. Eileen Kelly, 57, of Ithaca, NY, formerly of Steubenville, OH, was called home to Our Lord on September 2, 2013 after a courageous fight with cancer. Eileen was born on October 24, 1955 in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Professor Edward J. and Mary C. Kelly and is survived by her brother Thomas (Sandra) of Steubenville, OH and a sister Mary C. Young (William-deceased) of Weirton, West Virginia and six nieces and nephews. Dr. Kelly was a 1973 graduate of Catholic Central High School and a 1978 graduate of the College of Steubenville where she majored in accounting. She then earned her Master's degree in 1979 and her Ph.D. in 1982 in industrial relations from the University of Cincinnati. Eileen was a tenured professor at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Prior to that, she served on the faculty of Creighton University in Omaha, NE from 1982-1988 and at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA from 1988-1993. In 1993 Eileen became a member of the faculty of Ithaca College where she was promoted to the rank of professor in 1999. Dr. Kelly was also a Visiting Scholar of Business Ethics at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, OH in 2006. Dr. Kelly was a noted for her scholarly work and publications concerning business ethics, employment rights, religion and employee workplace rights, privacy rights, labor, and management history. In 1989, she was awarded by Franciscan University with the Father Columba Devlin Award given to alumni for success in teaching or administration in the field of education. She was also professionally affiliated with the National Academy of Management, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the Society for Business Ethics, the Society for Catholic Social Scientists, the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, and the International Association for Business and Society. Friends will be received on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville, OH. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:00 at St. Peter's Church in Steubenville, OH, the Rev. Timothy Huffman officiating. Visiting Nurse Service recently learned of the passing of Eileen Kelly. Our clinicians have voiced how much they enjoyed providing Eileen with home care services during her time of need.
