Leona House Obituary
Leona Marie House was born in Ithaca, NY on June 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Wilson House and Selma Mattson Snyder and died in Ithaca, NY on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 79.
She is survived by four daughters, Ramona (Mark) Andersen of Freeville, NY, Rene` Dickson (Stephen Stanton) of Brooktondale, NY, Ruby McCutcheon of Harford Mills, NY and Roberta Dickson of Brooktondale, NY; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Leona was a published poet, sharing time with local poet groups and selected poetry networks. She designed the newsletter for a period of time as a member of the Finger Lakes Finns, using a graphic art design degree she earned from TC3 at the age of 57. A cherished group of close friends through her lifetime, from Alaska to Tennessee, will remember her strong will. Her family wishes to thank the wonderful group at the Groton Community Health Care Center who cared for her with such compassion and gentleness.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service, in LaRow Cemetery, North VanEtten, NY will be arranged at the convenience of the family. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com

My sympathies to Lee's family. I met her 29 years ago at a low point in my life. She was so helpful to me then, I greatly admired her honesty and strength. And she had the best stories and the best laugh. She will be remembered by me always.

My deepest sympathies to Leona's family. Praying for their comfort and peace during this time of loss.
We were online friends for many years and my husband and I had the pleasure of her company when she visited us several years ago.
She had a vibrant spirit that will be missed by her family and friends.
