Portsmouth, RI: Barbara L. Watson, 71, of Riverside Street, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2013 in Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the loving wife of Stephen P. Watson for 45 years. Born in Attleboro, MA on February 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Mario & Bella Nobrega. Barbara grew up in Attleboro and was a 1960 graduate of Attleboro High School. After graduation she attended Stonehill College and received a B.S. in Biology. Barbara joined the Peace Corps in 1964 and spent two years in Ghana, Africa. In 1993 she graduated from Indiana University with a Masters Degree in Library Science. She was employed as a biology teacher at Saint Monica School and as a medical librarian at Wishard Memorial Hospital both in Indianapolis, IN. Barbara enjoyed skiing, biking, rollerblading, surfing and singing. She was a ski instructor for Special Olympics, a volunteer for Inner City Ministries in Indianapolis, IN and a Read-Up tutor for United Way of Central Indiana. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Paul Watson and his wife Arlene of Mesa, AZ, Joshua Watson and his wife Christa of Carmel, IN, Joan Isaac of Fisher, IN and Christine and her husband Kevin Peck of Scottsdale, AZ; also 10 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, October 8, at 9 a.m., from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, celebrated by Rev. Richard D. Wilson. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's name may be made to Children of Rural Africa-CORAfrica, P.O.
