Casey Clines Obituary

CASEY ANTHONY CLINES
WASHINGTON, DC - Casey Anthony Clines, 51, died peacefully at his residence in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, following an extended illness. He was born in Ithaca on November 19, 1957, son of the late Robert J. and Nancy Gallagher Clines.
Casey was a graduate of Ithaca High School, SUNY Cortland and the Ohio Northern University School of Law. He had been employed for the past several years at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figer PLLC in Washington, DC.
Casey is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. "Jim" and Francesca Clines of Ithaca; his sister and brother-in-law, Colleen M. and Richard Greene of Ellicott City, MD; and his brother, Kevin W. Clines of Ithaca. He is also survived by his nieces, Megan and Lauren Clines and Jordan and Ryan Greene; his aunt, Jean Gallagher Welch; and several cousins.
Casey's incredible journey through life can not be put into words. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind and extraordinary love of life; for his incredible sense of humor and boundless love, which will live on in the friends he leaves behind. There was nothing more important to Casey than his friendships, and there will never be a better friend.
A Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Scott Kubinski on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Casey's memory may be directed to the Ithaca Youth Hockey Assoc., c/o Rich Uglig, 200 White Park Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850; or to Ithaca Youth Lacrosse, c/o Nancy Bower, 1 James Gibbs Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850.

To Hawk, Jim and Collen. Please accept my sincere and belated condolences. The first real job I ever had was in Utica NY. I spent six months there and the only redeeming part of the stay was the time I spent with Casey playing liars poker at a local pub. I'd wake up the next morning with a sore jaw from the constant smile and many laughs he'd put on my face. Thanks, Casey! Rest in peace.

Was so very sad to hear about Casey. Many, many fond memories from our days together in Ada---occasionally studying law. We shared one of the most memorable St. Paddies Day celebrations in Lima, where the press interviewed Casey as a "visiting exchange student from Ireland." From one of the "Browner Brothers", roll on brother. To a great lad!

I am searching for the words; something Casey never had to do. What an incredible wit, to go with amazing intellect. There are many people you cross paths with in life, but few whose impression on you lasts a lifetime. That, to me, is Casey's legacy. To Casey's family, my sincere condolences.

guess God needed him to join Dale, Dan, and Glenn.......Our loss is heaven's gain.

Casey, I will miss you dearly. You've been a part of my life since I was a baby; well, as far back as I can remember. I have so many great memories of you, me, and my uncle Kevin dating back as far as I can remember. DQ trips after basketball, hockey, etc. in the parking lot at the funeral home; you and Kevin giving me fireworks at the lake when I was probably 8 or 10 years old; the first time I drove a car (Chap's Jeep--I think I was 12--drove from St Catherine's to the Garter the night of Kevin and Jackie's rehearsal dinner); you were there at my wedding reception in 1994, The Breeders Cup at Belmont in 2005 (what a great time), and EVERYTHING ELSE. Casey, you will be missed by so many, for sure. I am so sad you are gone and so sad I am half a world away right now. I wish I was in Ithaca. The world is a lesser place today.

The more appropriate replacement for Jay Leno on The Tonight Show would have been Casey. No doubt he would be proud that the new host is an Irishman. Casey, my friend, maybe now you know what happened to the lacrosse stick we buried in the face-off circle of the IHS field.
