Allen, Helen Marie
Helen Marie Allen, age 95, of Harford Mills, NY passed away Wednesday June 21st, 2017 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Helen was born Aug. 24, 1921 in Richford, NY, the daughter of Charles and Ella Nixon. A lifelong area resident, Helen married on August 23, 1942 to Karl Allen who preceded her to heaven on August 6th 1995 the two were married for over 53 years. Helen helped Karl on the family farm in Harford for many years until their retirement in 1978. She enjoyed traveling to see family, sewing and needle point, gardening, and reading. Helen greatest love was her husband Karl and their family who came first for her entire life. She was still caring for all of us until the very end.
Surviving Helen are her children, Sharon (Starry) Sherwood of Harford Mills, Anice Goutremont of Cortland, Gary Allen, Sr. of Harford Mills, and like a son Mark (Maureen) Reynolds of Lansing. Helen will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her many grand (7), great-grand (16) and great great-grandchildren (3); niece Bonnie (Joe) Emerson of Berkshire and her many friends. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her sister Jennie Emerson, son Stanley L Allen, son-in-law Edward (Ned) Goldman, and daughter-in-law Evelyn Allen.
Funeral services and internment will be held privately at the Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden. The family is being assisted by Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden NY. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com

Helen was the most loving caring and kindest lady that I have ever known . She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. I am forever grateful to have ever met her and had her in my life . hugs prayers and my thoughts to the whole Allen family. Love , Sheila ( vandeweert ) Abbey.
