Ithaca: Jeannette Geldwert, of 314 North Plain Street, Ithaca, died on Saturday night, September 28, at the Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca. Mrs. Geldwert and her beloved husband, Jacob, were survivors of the Holocaust who moved to Ithaca after World War II to join family who had settled here years before. For many years the Geldwerts worked side by side at Jake's Red & White Market on Court Street. Jeannette was a consummate helpmate to her husband, a loving mother to her children, Ella and Josef, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was beloved in the community, known for her warm and generous hospitality. A life member of Temple Beth-El, she was most valued for her presence and example. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 30, at 8 a.m. at Shomrai HaDas Chapel, 3803 14th Avenue, Brooklyn. Burial will follow in Israel with a service at Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem. A Temple Beth-El memorial service to pay tribute to Jeannette Geldwert will be announced at a later date. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Geldwert may be made to the
