Carpenter, Kim Leonard

Kim Leonard Carpenter, born to Ronald and Shirley Carpenter of Vestal on April 19th, 1953, passed away at 9:30 the morning of January 11th, 2014. After a struggle with cancer he is now at peace. Kim is survived by his wonderful wife, Diane Carpenter; daughters, Sarah and Melanie; his brother, Mark Carpenter & Sue and their children Brian & Stacey and their families; his lifelong friend and "brother," David Koncak and his wife Jan; his in-laws, Gerald and Margaret Minckler; brother-in-law, Gerald Jr. & Connie Minckler; sisters-in-law, Darlene & John Kurtz, Debbie & Allen Arnold, and Denise & Erik Smestad; along with several nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews. Kim is predeceased by his mother & father, Shirley & Ronald Carpenter. Kim loved the great outdoors - hunting, fishing, boating, vacations with the family, and he always told us that Nature is GOD's church. His faith in GOD has been unshakeable throughout his life. Kim was the kindest & most generous man and always made sure his family was taken care of. Services will be held at McKendree Church in Candor, NY at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17th, with a lunch to follow for friends & family at noon. Calling hours are Thursday, January 16th, from 6-8 p.m. in the church hall. In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests to honor Kim's wishes and please send a donation in Kim's name to McKendree United Methodist Church, 224 Owego St., Candor, NY 13743 or Hospicare, 172 East King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Anyone choosing to send flowers can request a 'Living Arrangement' or 'Bulb & Seed Arrangement' that a family member can continue to enjoy in remembrance from Two Hoots Flowers & Gifts in Candor, 236-0007.
