Grant, Phyllis Countryman
Phyllis Countryman Grant (Momma Phyl), 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2013. Born in Peabody MA on November 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Deschenes) Powers. She was a devoted, loving mother to Timothy E. Countryman (son of Earl Rumsey), Lori (Dan) Smith, Terri (Gary) Consalvi, Torrance (Gina) Countryman. She is also survived by her step-children Donna Garrett and David Grant; her cherished grandchildren Christopher (Naomi) Downey, Katie (Brandon) Cruz, Daniel (Nidia) Smith Jr., Robert Smith, Angela Yartz, Kristen Consalvi, Marissa Consalvi, Kendra Countryman, Trevor Countryman, Kelsey Martin, Kimberly (Brooks) Stafford, Chris Grant, twelve great-grandchildren (Dafne, Alisabeth, Hanzel, Alison, Myla, Rylan, Teagan, Hadley, Kiara, Jackson with two due to be born), her sister Judith (Pete) D'Amato and sister-in-law Carol Powers, several nieces and nephews. Her primary residence was the Trumansburg/Ithaca area. Phyllis gave to and received love from all who knew her. Her many accomplishments included influencing young lives through providing day care, retiring as Assistant to the Dean, School of Communications at Ithaca College and the Saginaw MI Choral Society. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone that assisted with her care at CMC and Beechtree Care Center. Contributions in lieu of flowers are graciously directed to the Recreation Department of the Beechtree Care Center, 318 S. Albany Street, Ithaca NY 14850. There will be a celebration of Phyllis' life announced at a later date. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
