Dryden: Ryan James Ellis, age 21, of 130 Walker Road, Dryden, NY died Saturday, April 27th, 2013, as the result of an automobile accident on NYS Rt. 13 in the Town of Veteran. Ryan was born in Ithaca, NY a son of Iretta Williams Ellis and Donald F. Ellis, Jr. of Dryden. Ryan was graduated from Dryden High School in 2010 and was a junior at Alfred University studying Mechanical Engineering. Ryan was on the Dryden High School football team and enjoyed turkey and deer hunting although his main interest was in racing. He began with Microds at Little Wheels and Midstate, as well as Micro Sprint Cars at many tracks in New York and Pennsylvania, and lastly an IMCA Modified Stock Car at Skyline Raceway. He was well liked and had been employed at Clark's, Willow Glen Cemetery and at Borg Warner. He was loving and generous and always made his coworkers laugh and enjoy their work. At college he often assisted and tutored his fellow classmates. Survivors include his parents; his siblings, Chad Owens of Trumansburg, C.J. Ellis of Dryden; his grandparents, Diana and Donald Ellis of Dryden and Douglas and Frances Williams of Sebring, FL and Thomas and Bonnie Brown of Newfield, NY; his great-grandfather, Gordon Ellis of Dryden; aunts and uncles, Kim (Daniel) Ellis of Dryden, Anita (Dale) Stocking of Whitney Point; and many additional aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Sivers officiating. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY and at a celebration of life immediately following the funeral to be held at the Dryden Fire Hall, 26 North Street, Dryden, NY.
