Pawlak, Stephen M.

Cortland: Stephen M. Pawlak, age 54, of 1043 Wolf Road, Cortland, NY passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY with his family by his side. Born October 27, 1957 in Bethpage, NY, he is a son of Marion Pawlak and the late Helen Zablocki Pawlak. Steve graduated Farmingdale High School in 1975 and Cornell University in 1979. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. He later obtained his Master's degree in electrical engineering from Syracuse University. On June 19, 1982, he married Jean Hill in Interlaken, NY. Steve was employed as an engineer with Smith Corona and later became a financial adviser and part time Instructor at Cayuga Community College. In addition to his father, Marion Pawlak of Farmingdale, NY, Steve is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean Pawlak at home; three daughters, Katie (Chad) Totman of Cortland, NY, Lauren Pawlak of Durham, NC and Amanda Pawlak of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Max and Kyle Totman of Cortland, NY; brothers, John (Suzanne) Pawlak of Andover, MA, Ed (Jane) Pawlak of West Hartford, CT, and Jim (Reenie) Pawlak of New Windsor, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family: mother-in-law, MaryLou Hill; sisters-in-law, Lezlie (Dave) Morrese, Gini Ellis; and brother-in-law, Michael Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 149 Honness Lane, Ithaca, NY with Rev. Robert Foote officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 2 (today), at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 149 Honness Lane, Ithaca, NY 14850 or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society CNY Chapter, 401 N. Salina St., Learbury Centre, Syracuse, NY 13203-1770.
