Frank Mitchell went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, after a long illness. Frank was born in Syracuse, NY January 14, 1932 to the late Francis Joseph Mitchell and Lillian Levanian Mitchell. Frank was predeceased by his sister, Gwendolyn Mitchell McCrory. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a member of the 3rd Infantry Regiment known as "The Old Guard" where he rendered honors at the funerals of many service men who were buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a native of Queens, NY and retired from the NYC school district where he worked as a custodian and boiler operator prior to moving upstate to Virgil to spend his retirement closer to his family. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid gardener. He often said he should have been born a farmer. He is survived by his nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19th, at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors provided by members of the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden.
