Yaw, John F.

Interlaken: John F. Yaw, age 68, of Interlaken and Fruitland Park, FL, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Full Gospel Church, 683 Backer Rd., Beaver Dams, NY. The family asks those who would like to make a contribution in John's memory to kindly consider Full Gospel Church, 2014 Chambers Rd., Beaver Dams, NY 14812 or Lifetime Care Hospice, 1120 South Main St., Newark, NY 14513. John was born in the Town of Covert on November 22, 1945, a son to John and Rosalie (Wright) Yaw. He attended Trumansburg Central School and had a strong work ethic from a young age. John's hard work led him to become the owner and operator of Yaw's Environmental Process Control Inc. out of Cayuga Heights. John had very strong Christian beliefs and loved his wife, family, and the Lord unconditionally. He took every opportunity he could to help out family, friends, employees, and neighbors. John would make up love songs as he thought of them and sing them to his wife on a daily basis. Family gatherings and card games were always attended by John and he always shared his wonderful sense of humor with family and friends. John was a jack of all trades and always knew how to fix any mechanical problem. In his younger years, John learned how to fly and became an amateur pilot. He truly loved people and would do anything for anyone at any time. John will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Yaw; daughter, Roseanne (Stephen) Tompkins; two stepdaughters, Tamara (Charles) Underwood and Alicia (Edward) Combs; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother, Rosalie Wright Yaw Mayo; four sisters, Rose (Dave) Yaw Williammee Smith, Sandra Yaw Ward (Dale Clapper), Emma Yaw Lovejoy, and Yolonda (Robin) Yaw Cleveland Johnson; stepbrother, Ted (Elaine) Mayo; brother-in-law, Sam Ward; four sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Richard) Myers, Wanda (Louis) Miraglia, Linda (George) Wright, and Jean Yaw; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Frederick Yaw; stepfather, Richard Mayo; a son, John Yaw; brother, Clifford Yaw; and brother-in-law, Rex Lovejoy. Arrangements are under the direction of Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. For additional information please call 1-877-828-3411 or visit www.covertfuneralhome.com.
