Tuttle, Richard (Dick) M.

Richard (Dick) M. Tuttle passed away at Beechtree Nursing Home on January 13, 2013 at the age of 85. Born in Towanda, PA on January 16, 1927. Richard attended school in Towanda PA, until he entered the US Army in 1945. After the Army, Richard was a Ford mechanic for 39 years until his retirement in 1980's, then worked as a maintenance man for the Top's Market until 2009. Richard was quite a fisherman, enjoyed camping with his family and friends on Cayuga and Seneca Lakes, and the fishing trip with his children and friends every May to Mud Bay which he continued to do up until 2010. He was a member of the Ithaca Moose Lodge, Eagles and a Life member of American Legion Post #77. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Laura Tuttle of Ithaca and was the most wonderful father to Richard Tuttle (Chip) of NC, Barbara Menley (Michael) of St. Louis, Marion Boylan/Michael of Settle, Mike Tuttle/Naomi of MO, James Mc Millen of Ithaca, Ann McCoy of PA, Joyce Denmark/David Standish of Interlaken, Donna Creswell/ Larry of Ithaca, Allen Tuttle/Joan of Summerhill, Susan Barrett/Andrew of Montour Falls, Helen Riley/Ron of Ithaca, Jean Hubbell/Jon Munson of Trumansburg, Carol Tuttle/Michael Sporri of Ithaca, Patricia Tuttle/Barry of Corning, Donald Tuttle/ Brenda Wickham of Interlaken, Molly Hyers/Chris of Spencer, Zina Benjamin/ Kevin of Candor, David Austin of Trumansburg, Janet Austin of Ithaca. Richard was also a grandfather of 42, great grandfather of 106, great, great grandfather of 39, and a great, great, great grandfather of 19. Each and every one of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, as well as any other child that needed a home or a helping hand. He is survived by his sisters, Margarita Eldridge and Martha Burke, both of PA. Preceding Richard in death were his mother and stepfather, Helena & George Wheeler; his father, Myron; brother, Donald; sisters, Edith, Jean, & Patricia; brothers-in-law, Raymond Eldridge & Sherman Burke. Richard's entire family would like to say Thank You! To the staff at Beechtree Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to dad for the last nine months. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday January 16, 2013 at the West Hill Community Church 3049 Van Dorn Corners Rd, Ithaca NY. Calling hours at 10AM, Service at 11AM. The family asks those who wish to make a contribution in Richard's memory to kindly consider the Trumansburg Food Pantry, PO Box 162 Trumansburg NY 14886 or Beechtree Recreation Department at 318 S. Albany St, Ithaca NY 14850. The family have entrusted arrangements to the Herson Funeral Home, 110 South Geneva St., Ithaca, NY. A private burial will be in the spring.
